TRIUMPH ROADSTER 1947 1800 FOR SALE
TRIUMPH ROADSTER 1947 1800 FOR SALE
SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD
Prior to my buying this car, the previous owner carried out a full chassis up restoration between 1994 and 1996. It was in the Triumph Roadster Club’s Top Twelve immediately and it has always been so since I purchased it from him in 1999, whenever I attended the Rally.
I have enjoyed driving Penny over the years raising thousands of pounds for charity. She has led a colourful life having been photographed with celebrities including the Duke of Gloucester at H.M the Queen’s 80th Birthday at Buckingham Palace and also at her and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh’s Diamond wedding, with the Duke of Kent hosting the Classic car event. Other celebs with her included racing drivers Sir Stirling Moss, Damon Hill, Jackie Stewart and the F1 commentator, Murray Walker. BBC Weather girls Helen Young and Sarah Wilmshurst at various charity events. I suppose involvement in this entire helped win the Car of the Year Trophy three years in succession, (five in all) and in her condition now, to win the Concours d’ Elegance in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In addition she won many Best in Show and Best in Class awards. Penny featured in articles in Practical Classics, Classic Cars, Sports & Classics, Triumph World, Classic Car Weekly, "Doctor" magazine and many, many local newspapers. She was filmed for an episode of Midsomer Murders (Death in the Slow Lane) but sadly due to change in the story line, her role, in common with others, ended up on the cutting room floor!
Penny has crossed the waters twice. Firstly to the Benelux Rally and later to the Jersey International Motoring Festival.
The car comes with the original buff Registration book and MOT certificates and a lot of information of many of the previous owners.

TRIUMPH ROADSTER AT SANDOWN
The following pictures were taken at the last Sandown Triumph Day event.
The reason given to call it a day there was the exorbitant costs involved in running the show.
There was also a problem with having the set up done during un-social hours .

TRIUMPH ROADSTER KELMARSH RALLY 2010
I attended The Triumph Roadster Club's Annual Rally with my 1947 1800 cc Roadster , held at Kelmarsh Hall, near Market Harborough, on the 27th June 2010. It is a renowned venue for classic car Rallies. This event was special in that it was the Club's Golden Jubilee Rally. Not surprising therefore that our Events Director was aiming to have at least 50 Thiumph Roadsters here, a number never achieved before. It was heart warming to see 60 Roadsters made it!
This event was unique in many other ways. Firstly, on the Friday before, seven stalwarts gathered at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking from where they embarked on a 75 mile Road Run on th way to Kelmarsh. With a lunch break at Henley some fifty miles on and an overnight stay at the Honily Court Hotel, they completed the Run next morning.
As in previous years, the Club's Annual Rally Dinner was held on the Saturday. The venue was the Three Swans at Market, Harborough. As before, members of the Triumph Mayflower Club joined us. A record number of 70 members were present.
The weather the next day was absolutely fantastic, attracting over 200 visitors including one from the USA. Members in the UK came from far a field as Cornwall and Aberdeen. Members with Roadsters from Europe, came from Holland, Belgium and Spain
A surprise gift, in the form of a blue, rubber backed wing proctector with the "Triumph Roadster Club" printed in the centre, was given to every Roadster on the field. I think it is a superior version than the ones available with magnets as this picks up metal bits which could damage paintwork if used carelessly.
To commemorate the Golden Jubilee Rally, the club had ordered 18ct gold plated limited edition numbered models of the Triumph Roadster. All 100 of these have now been sold.
Having won the Club's concours d'Elegance Trophy last year I was naturally delighted to retain it this year
After my name and Penny's Registration number were engraved on the Trophy, there was no more space for further entries.
(The new Trophy)
I had another base made to match, located a similar band and donated it to the Club.
