TRIUMPH ROADSTER KELMARSH RALLY 2010

I attended The Triumph Roadster Club's Annual Rally with my 1947 1800 cc Roadster , held at Kelmarsh Hall, near Market Harborough, on the 27th June 2010.   It is a renowned venue for classic car Rallies. This event was special in that it was the Club's Golden Jubilee Rally. Not surprising therefore that our Events Director was aiming to have at least 50 Thiumph Roadsters here, a number never achieved before. It was heart warming to see 60 Roadsters made it!

This event was unique in many other ways. Firstly, on the Friday before, seven stalwarts gathered at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking from where they embarked on a 75 mile Road Run on th way to Kelmarsh. With a lunch break at Henley some fifty miles on and an overnight stay at the Honily Court Hotel, they completed the Run next morning.

As in previous years, the Club's Annual Rally Dinner was held on the Saturday. The venue was the Three Swans at Market, Harborough. As before, members of the Triumph Mayflower Club joined us. A record number of 70 members were present.

The weather the next day was absolutely fantastic, attracting over 200 visitors including one from the USA. Members in the UK came from far a field as Cornwall and Aberdeen. Members with Roadsters from Europe, came from Holland, Belgium and Spain

A surprise gift, in the form of a blue, rubber backed wing proctector with the "Triumph Roadster Club" printed in the centre, was given to every Roadster on the field. I think it is a superior version than the ones available with magnets as this picks up metal bits which could damage paintwork if used carelessly.

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee Rally, the club had ordered 18ct gold plated limited edition numbered models of the Triumph Roadster. All 100 of these have now been sold.

Having won the Club's concours d'Elegance Trophy last year I was naturally delighted to retain it this year

After my name and Penny's Registration number were engraved on the Trophy, there was no more space for further entries.

       (The new Trophy)

I had another base made to match, located a similar band and donated it to the Club.

1947 TRIUMPH ROADSTER at CANONS ASHBY Rally 2011

I attended the Annual Rally of the Triumph Roadster Club with my 1947 Triumph Roadster on the 5th June 2011 at Canons Ashby House in Northamptonshire.

It is an Elizabethan manor house and has been the home of the Dryden family.

On the inside one sees it beautiful Jacobean plasterwork and on the outside the many acres of the formal gardens with stunning manicured herbaceous gardens.

Other Classic car Clubs have used this venue for their Annual Rallies.

The weather was fair  for most part of the day  allowing the judging to take place.

KHY 117 has won the Triumph Roadster Club's
Concours d'Elegance Trophy
for the third consecutive year
